Television contribution to the project in the BR evening show

The German television station BR once again broadcasted the report by Peter Solfrank about Unserdeutsch and the project in its evening show. The report is called "Deutsche Muttersprachler aus Neuguinea" and premiered in October 2016.

Article in the information Brochure of the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum

The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum, the research college for transnational studies at the University of Augsburg, has published an article about Unserdeutsch and the research project in its information brochure (10, 2016). It is titled "Einzige Kreolsprache mit deutschen Wurzeln".

Lecture by Prof Maitz in Bolzano

On 27 September 2016, Prof Péter Maitz gave a lecture at the 3rd International Workshop "Historische Aspekte der Mehrsprachigkeit: Ego-Dokumente" in Bolzano. The title of the lecture was "Was geschah in Vunapope? Zur Problematik der Rekonstruierbarkeit historischer Sprachkontaktszenarien".

The article deals with the emergence, significance, research and relevance of Unserdeutsch in the Pacific.

Workshop in Augsburg

From 3 to 4 June 2016, a workshop on "Koloniale Varietäten des Deutschen" took place in Augsburg as part of the Unserdeutsch project. In addition to lectures on Unserdeutsch and the project, topics such as the pidgin language Namibian Kiche Duits, language contact and the German vocabulary in Tok Pisin were covered.

Prof Mühlhäusler in Augsburg

On 31 May 2016, Prof Peter Mühlhäusler (University of Adelaide/Australia), creolist and leading expert on the languages of the Pacific region, visited the Chair of German Linguistics in Augsburg. During the discussions with the staff of the Unserdeutsch project, the main focus was on questions of the linguistic description and revitalisation of Unserdeutsch.
